Yep, you read that right.
Robots are here, but they ship with no software. They’re all mute, deaf, and blind out of the box. The only way to get the robot to do anything is to write code. This is insane.
We want robots to behave like in the movies: proactive, caring, aware.
The role
A robot that speaks and listens is an audio product first. Ours does both in noisy rooms full of people — and it has to sound alive doing it.
You’ll design how our robots hear and how they’re heard: the microphones and speakers inside a robot’s head, and the acoustics that make them work.
What you’ll do
- Design the acoustic hardware that lives inside a robot: mic arrays, speakers, enclosures, porting.
- Tune capture and playback so robots hear clearly in loud rooms and sound warm, never tinny.
- Prototype, measure, iterate: measurement rig one day, a crowded showroom the next.
- Work with our audio research team so hardware and models improve each other.
What’s needed
We don’t care about degrees, titles, or seniority. Show us hard problems you’ve solved — projects, repos, systems running in production. We do need:
- Electroacoustics. You know how sound is captured and projected: transducers, enclosures, beamforming, tuning.
- Product. You’ve taken audio hardware from prototype to production before.
- Ears. You can hear the difference before the measurement confirms it.
- Fun. You record, mix, build synths or speakers — audio is your hobby too.
Bonus points
- Transparency. You’ve worked on transparency mode, ANC, or hearables — that exact craft transfers here.
- DSP. You’re comfortable in the signal chain: filters, echo cancellation, spatial audio.
